ESD supplies and ESD equipment

Here you will find a comprehensive range of ESD supplies and ESD equipment for electronics manufacturing.

" Electrostatic discharges (ESD) are voltage breakdowns caused by large potential differences. These breakdowns (possibly visible as sparks) cause a brief, high electric current and can ignite flammable substances."

People can accumulate static electricity of up to 5000 V simply by walking or even just sitting (e.g., through the rubbing of clothing or walking with shoes on an insulated floor), although humans can only feel discharges above approximately 2000 V. However, even just 10 V can damage a sensitive electronic component.

ESD damage can occur if:

• a charged person or object comes into contact with an electrostatically sensitive device (ESDS);
• an ESDS comes into direct contact with a highly conductive surface while exposed to an electrostatic field;
• a charged ESDS comes into contact with another conductive surface that is at a different electrical potential.

There are two strategies against ESD damage: 1. Avoiding charging and 2. Avoiding rapid discharge.

DIN EN 61340-5-1: Protection of electronic components against electrostatic phenomena

DIN EN 61340-5-1 is the standard for dealing with electrostatic discharge in connection with technical equipment. As part of the international 61340 series of standards, which addresses electrostatics in all areas, it is important for many industrial companies. Essentially, DIN EN 61340-5-1 contains the requirements that companies must meet for the effective management of electrostatic discharges in the design, conception, construction, installation, and maintenance of such systems.

Here you will find suitable materials and equipment for ESD workplaces, such as ESD clothing and shoes, wristbands, floor mats, packaging materials, chairs and transport trolleys to make your electronics manufacturing ESD safe .
