Ladder rung cover, non-slip

Ladder rung cover, non-slip

These retrofit ladder rung covers can be mounted directly onto the ladder rungs – regardless of material, shape, or width. The non-slip rung covers prevent falls from ladders in frost, wet conditions, oil, and other contaminants. They are designed for the toughest applications on ladders in offshore installations, wind turbines, masts (e.g., cell towers or radio masts), construction sites, ships, and chemical plants .

Slip resistance – Our covers are made of highly slip-resistant material (R13) that prevents shoes and hands from slipping.
Prevention of injuries – Sharp-edged rungs can be "defused" by our covers.
Improved visibility – striking yellow improves perception and reduces the risk of accidents.

Anti-slip rung covers for retrofitting ladders for increased safety and fewer accidents and falls.

The anti-slip pads for the rungs are made of high-quality European fiberglass (GRP) with embedded silicon carbide stones, giving the rungs virtually indestructible durability and slip resistance; among other things, they are rustproof. The striking yellow color increases the visibility of the rungs and thus the safety of the ladder, especially in poor lighting conditions or adverse weather.

Areas of application for the ladder rung attachments for retrofitting fixed ladders and shaft ladders :

  • Ladders on towers, masts and tanks
  • Walkways and catwalks
  • Platforms and galleries
  • Public and private areas (e.g. measuring towers, water towers)
  • Railway and airport sector (e.g. for light masts, floodlight masts, lightning rod towers, radar systems, radio systems, signal masts, overhead line masts )
  • Navy and shipping (e.g. lighthouses, ship masts)
  • Electricity suppliers (e.g., wind turbines, power pylons, overhead line pylons) and mechanical engineering (e.g., for construction cranes)
  • Telecommunications (e.g. for mobile phone masts and telecommunications towers)
  • chemical industry
  • Oil and gas industry or in the offshore sector
  • Food sector and other industries
  • Shaft ladders are used in various areas, including sewers, sewage treatment plants, landfills, retention basins, bunkers, mines and pump shafts.

Retrofitting ladder rungs with anti-slip material

The ladder rung covers for retrofitting are highly slip-resistant (R13 according to DIN 51130) and thus serve as additional protection .

Available options for anti-slip mats for ladder rungs :

1) Shape of ladder rung cover: Round covers

Diameter / Length: Ø20 x 300 mm, Ø20 x 400 mm, Ø20 x 500 mm, Ø25 x 300 mm, Ø25 x 400 mm, Ø25 x 500 mm, Ø30 x 300 mm, Ø30 x 400 mm, Ø30 x 500 mm

Note: The BG RCI (German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Raw Materials and Chemical Industry) specifies a minimum diameter of 25 mm for round rungs. If required, we can also offer you (at an additional cost) a thicker special solution for 20 mm rungs, as well as if you would like to fit a round ladder rung with a flat cover.

2) U-profile covers for ladder rungs

Width x Length: 20mm x 300mm, 20mm x 400mm, 20mm x 500mm, 25mm x 300mm, 25mm x 400mm, 25mm x 500mm, 30mm x 300mm, 30mm x 400mm, 30mm x 500mm, 35mm x 500mm

(Note: Square ladder rung covers are no longer manufactured; alternatively, a U-profile can be used – the "extra side" then goes under the ladder rung.)

Color: Yellow (other colors, such as black or grey, available as a double coat of paint - only recommended to a limited extent)

Optional: printed with individual text, such as "USE HANDRAIL" or "USE HANDRAIL".

Suitable SIKA adhesive for bonding the muntin covers is available upon request. Alternatively, the covers can also be screwed onto the existing muntins.

Ladder rung attachment/cover for retrofitting fixed ladders and shaft ladders, also available made to measure

Recommended for all industries and environments where the safety of a fixed ladder needs to be improved or the risk of falls reduced . These retrofit, non-slip ladder rung covers offer excellent slip resistance in dirty, wet, and oily environments.

Ladder rung covers can help prevent slips and falls by providing a non-slip surface. Rung covers are especially useful in wet or slippery conditions, as they improve the ladder's grip and traction. Furthermore, the yellow ladder rung covers can also enhance overall ladder safety by making the rungs easier to see and grip, particularly in low-light conditions. Overall, ladder rung covers can be an important safety feature for any ladder and are recommended for use in a variety of settings, including industrial and construction environments.

"4.6.2 Design and installation

  • Climbing irons and ladders are made of durable materials and are protected against corrosion.

  • The climbing irons and ladders are reliably and permanently attached.

  • Climbing irons and ladders are arranged and installed in such a way that they can be used safely. This also means slip resistance adapted to the operational conditions.
  • Climbing irons and ladders are arranged and installed to ensure safe use. The tread widths of climbing irons and ladder rungs meet the following minimum dimensions:

    • For single-run climbing irons, at least 300 mm,
    • For double-rung crampon tracks, at least 150 mm,
    • For rungs on ladders with side rails, at least 350 mm,
    • For rungs on ladders with side rails and fall protection devices, at least 150 mm on both sides of the guide rail and
    • For rungs on ladders with a central rail, the spacing on both sides must be at least 150 mm.
    • Sufficient foot clearance depths are generally ensured if at least 150 mm is maintained between the wall surface and the tread axis, or at least 160 mm measured from the wall surface to the front edge of the tread.

"This ASR A1.8 specifies, within its scope, requirements of the Workplace Ordinance . If this technical rule is followed, the employer can assume that the corresponding requirements of the ordinance are met. If the employer chooses a different solution, it must provide at least the same level of safety and health protection for employees."
