Instructions for using self-adhesive marking film: Professional installation of self-adhesive marking film

For proper application of self-adhesive marking film, you should follow these steps:

  1. Dry road surface: Ensure that the road surface is completely dry. There should be no precipitation in the relevant section of the route for at least 48 hours before installation.

  2. Installation in low humidity: When installing at night or in high humidity, moisture can form on the road surface. This can lead to problems with the adhesive bond. Therefore, ensure that the road surface is dry before applying the marking film.

  3. Surface preparation: Remove all dirt, such as dust, oil, wax, grease, salt, sand, or other contaminants from the surface. For new concrete ceilings, it is recommended to remove concrete slurry using a high-pressure water jet at least 48 hours before installation.

  4. Damage-free surface: Do not place the marking film on joints, seams, or damaged road surfaces.

  5. Monitor weather conditions: Before installation, record the current weather data at the construction site using suitable measuring devices. Document this data in the installation log. The air and ground temperature should be at least +5°C, while the relative humidity must not exceed 80%. Send the self-monitoring log to the appropriate authority within 8 days.

  6. Pre-marking: Carry out the pre-marking using suitable materials, e.g., silver bronze. Ensure that the pre-marking is applied approximately 1-2 cm next to the marking foil.

  7. Primer: Apply the primer using a suitable sprayer, such as a spray gun with a spray pattern, approximately 2 cm beyond the edge of the film. The primer consumption is typically around 0.25 L/m². Drying time is approximately 3-15 minutes, depending on the ambient temperature and humidity. Only install the film after the primer has dried sufficiently and no longer forms strings. You can check this with a finger test. Use only the recommended primer for the marking film. Our primer, for example, is a suitable standard primer.

  8. Laying and pressing down the film: Place the self-adhesive marking film onto the primed surface and press it firmly onto the road surface using a pressure roller. Roll over the film at least three times. Ensure that the applied load is at least 90 kg to prevent the film from peeling off.

Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure proper application of the self-adhesive marking film.

Removing marking film: Step-by-step instructions for easy removal

Self-adhesive marking films can usually be removed cold without leaving residue, provided they are subjected to proper stress. Using road drying equipment (without an open flame, such as a roofer's torch) can facilitate removal. Solvents or water jets are not normally required. It is recommended to wear protective gloves when removing the film.

It is important to note that various factors can influence the removal of the marking tape, such as high traffic volume, narrow temporary lanes, a high proportion of heavy goods vehicles, rough road surfaces, or long drying times. Therefore, it is advisable to determine in advance which type of marking tape should be used for the removal process, taking these factors into account. The selection of the tape should not only be based on its traffic-related properties but also consider its removability to avoid problems during the removal process.
