Drinking water is not all the same. Its chemical composition varies considerably, and consequently, so does the stress it places on repair mortars. For example, drinking water with a hardness of 5 (soft water) attacks cement-bound drinking water mortar systems due to a dissolving attack caused by carbonic acid. This process is called hydrolysis.
