Snow fences for erection

These freestanding snow fences serve as mobile snow protection for roads and terrain prone to drifting snow . They prevent roads, slopes, and buildings from being covered by drifting snow. Each roll is 24 meters long, and they are available in different heights (1.20 m, 1.50 m, 1.80 m, and 2.25 m) and with different post spacings (4 m or 6 m).

Instructions for snow fences

How do you properly install a snow fence?

Rule of thumb: To achieve optimal efficiency, a snow fence should be erected with a minimum distance to the road that is at least ten times the height of the fence .

  • A base plate is driven into the ground every 4 or 6 meters (depending on the snow fence variant). We recommend using our guide reel for this purpose.
  • At intervals of approximately 2 meters to the left and right of the base plates, the relatively lightweight tent pegs are driven in completely, and the guy lines are attached. Should you encounter bedrock while driving in the pegs, the 2-meter spacing can be easily adjusted as needed using the tensioning devices. An optional version is also available where the pegs are driven in mechanically using a driving tool (accessory) instead of a large sledgehammer.
  • The snow fence mat is unrolled while maintaining a comfortable, upright posture.
  • Place the integrated support posts on the base plates and hook the ropes onto the support posts at the top using the rope guide plates.
  • Tension the entire field using the wire rope tensioners. This task is made considerably easier by the tensioning jaws.

Removal of snow fences

  • Loosen and unhook the guy ropes.
  • Fold down the snow fence mat and pull out the pegs and base plates. A peg puller is very helpful for this.
  • Roll up the snow fence mat with the integrated posts - most conveniently with our mat winder.
