Road speed bumps
Speed bumps for traffic calming
The speed bumps made of volcanic rubber are a modular system with various standardized components. This allows them to be used in variable sizes (width and length) for traffic calming purposes .
Speed bumps are ideal for reducing speed within 10 km/h and 30 km/h zones.
The volcanic rubber road sleepers are a modular "building block" with different shaped parts. This allows them to be produced in variable sizes (width and length).
Different ramp gradients were deliberately chosen: the front and end elements have a gentle slope (1:15), while the side elements rise much more steeply (1:3).
Effect:
- High acceptance due to a moderate driving dynamic effect.
- Road users avoid driving over the side area, which slopes towards the curb. The often-observed "lateral swerving" usually does not occur.
All elements measure 45 x 100 x 7.5 cm (W x L x H). The initial elements are wedge-shaped, increasing in height from 0.8 cm to 7.5 cm. The middle elements are a consistent 7.5 cm high.
For improved stability, the elements are connected to each other using tongue and groove joints. An H-profile made of steel provides additional support. Installation is done by anchoring. Fastening materials are included (6 anchors and screws per element).
The elements are colored black throughout, with white reflective surfaces. White triangles point in the direction of travel, and rectangles run to the sides to visually delineate the plateau.
Depending on the road width, four different platform cushions were predefined. (The lateral distances to the curb should be between 60 and 80 cm).
| Set type | Dimensions (W x L) | approx. street width |
| Set A: | 270 x 400 cm | 390 to 430 cm |
| Set B: | 315 x 400 cm | 435 to 475 cm |
| Set C: | 405 x 400 cm | 525 to 565 cm |
| Set D: | 495 x 400 cm | 615 to 655 cm |
Other sizes are easily possible. Width in 45 cm increments and length in 100 cm increments.
