Application for the application of keel protection strips
How to attach the keel guard?
Application/Instructions for Use of Keel Protection Strips: First, clean the surface (ideally with isopropanol IPA or alternatively with water and dish soap) to remove oil and dirt. Allow the surface to dry completely before applying the strip. You can also pretreat the surface with a primer to further improve adhesion (see accessories). Avoid touching the strip or the surface with your hand. Simply peel off the backing, press the strip into place, and the keel protection is complete. If necessary, carefully use a heat gun or hot air gun to gently conform the keel protection strip to the surface contours.
Upper material: PVC
Colors: Black, White, Red, Yellow, Green, Blue
Adhesive: Rubber, extremely strong adhesion
Hardness: Shore A 85
Because the keel can be subjected to considerable stress on many canoe trips, it is not uncommon for it to become damaged and require repair. If the rubber skin on the keel is abraded, it should be covered with keel strips. These serve as reinforcement strips for the delicate boat skin.
If you are planning a multi-day canoe trip or even an expedition, you should definitely remember to take keel strips with you so that you can repair the canoe or kayak on site if necessary.
Further applications of the PVC protective strip
It can also be used, for example, to protect jet skis, motorboats, sailboats, snowmobiles/motorized sleds, and car doors. As with the exterior, composite materials are not very abrasion-resistant, and in many cases, most of the wear occurs where the rower's shoe sole rubs against the inside of the hull. This situation is further accelerated if there is sand or small pebbles on the shoes. Additionally, the PVC protective strip can be used where ropes rub against the boat hull.
